CAEA 2025 North Conference
The 2025 California Art Education Association (CAEA) North Conference took place on October 18, 2025, at the Crocker Art Museum in Sacramento. The event brought together art educators, administrators, and teaching artists from across the region for a full day of professional learning and sharing strategies to enrich arts learning in K–12 and community settings. With its diverse sessions, vibrant location, and focus on creative growth, the 2025 CAEA North Conference celebrated the vital role of art education across Northern California.
The keynote address, delivered by Sacramento City College professor and interdisciplinary artist Gioia Fonda, reflected on the pivotal role educators have played in her own journey and emphasized that educators are essential because each and every person needs others to help them grow. She encouraged the audience to consider who had mentored them in their journey, and also not to forget that they themselves are mentors, even if they don't realize it. The afternoon concluded with the much anticipated raffle drawing and the annual CAEA Awards Ceremony recognizing outstanding art educators in the Northern Area, including Dr. Luis-Genaro Garcia, Outstanding Higher Education Educator, Amy Lange, Outstanding Museum Educator, Sarah Rodriguez, Rookie of the Year, Rossi Jensen, Area Award of Merit winner, and Anthony Dahl, recipient of the Ruth Jansen Award. Hats off to Anthony Dahl, CAEA North Director and 2025 North Conference coordinator, for the successful planning and hosting of this amazing event! The October 15 conference at the Crocker Museum included a full day of inspiration, connection, and creativity and included a featured keynote by Gioia Fonda of Verge Center for the Arts in addition to a variety of dynamic workshops and lectures offered across three engaging sessions.
