CAEA Student Scholarships

The California Art Education Association offers four annual student scholarships:

The Duane Hagen Scholarship and the Lauren Burch Scholarship — Application deadline: March 1 of each year

Idyllwild Summer Arts Program Scholarship — Application deadline: March 1 of each year

The Paul Kravagna Higher Education Scholarship — Application deadline: May 1 of each year

Scholarships sponsored by CAEA provide benefits to students statewide, including exhibiting art publicly and receiving commendations for exemplary work. Scholarships and awards for artistic achievement and service are presented by CAEA to selected students.

CAEA Student Artwork Rubric

In the absence of cross-committee norming, rubrics yield subjective results based on each judge’s unique interpretation of the rubric criteria.

It is important to understand that the CAEA Student Artwork Rubric will be used when judging all student scholarship artwork entries.

CAEA Student Photo Release Form

Each year, the CAEA website displays photos of student scholarship winners and their teachers next to the image of each winning artwork. To enable CAEA to do this, this form needs to be completed, signed, and sent to the CAEA Scholarship Chair ([email protected]) by either the student scholarship winner or, if the student is a minor, the parents of student scholarship winners, along with a photo of the winner.

Idyllwild Summer Arts Program Scholarship
CAEA has joined with The Idyllwild Arts Foundation to provide an opportunity for one student (Grades 6–12) from one of the four areas in California to experience this unique summer art program. Current CAEA members may nominate as many students as they wish. The cost of the program includes the art course taken as well as room and board. The Idyllwild Arts Foundation is generously covering the entire cost of the program for the chosen student. Students will need to provide for their own transportation and the $50 registration fee. The CAEA area in which the student resides will pay the cost of materials.

See Idyllwild Arts Academy and its program.

Application Deadline: March 1 of each year.
