New Website FAQs & Tips
We hope this page will help you navigate around the new website and answer your questions. You must be a member to access these features. Not a member? Join CAEA and be a part of the professional organization for art educators in California!
Our new website contains an integrated database and lots of great new features. That means that you will be able to join CAEA, renew your membership, and register for the conference in REAL time in contrast to our old system. You are able to update your own profile (including changing your username and password), access the directory of fellow members, access certain pages, and register for the conference and other events by using your username and password. We’ll send your reminders to renew and let you know about important upcoming events and due dates.
HOW WILL I KNOW WHAT MY USERNAME AND PASSWORD IS WITH THE NEW SYSTEM?
We recently sent you an email with your username and password that you can use to access your profile and log into pages that only members can see. Can’t find the username and password email? Login and click on Forgot my Password. It will prompt you to enter your email address and send you your username and password. Has your email address changed so you can’t get this information? Contact Linda Stevenson, our Executive Secretary with your new email.
WHY IS IT IMPORTANT FOR ME TO BE SURE THAT CAEA HAS MY CORRECT AND ACCESSIBLE EMAIL ADDRESS?
The system is set up to recognize either your email or your username and password. If our information is not correct, then you will not be able to access the pages, information, and other services that will be available. Also CAEA is going greener. Almost all contact with you will be through email, not snail mail, including membership/ registration confirmation and all other correspondence. Please update your districts with the CAEA email address to allow for emails to come to you at your school, if that is the email address you are using. Correct an email that is in error by logging in with your username and password, or contacting Linda Stevenson at email@example.com
WHAT IF I WANT TO MAIL IN MY MEMBERSHIP FORM INSTEAD OF JOINING ONLINE OR I WANT TO REGISTER FOR THE CONFERENCE BY SNAIL MAIL?
You will still be able to do that. A downloadable form is available on the Membership and Conference pages, but you will only receive an emailed receipt.
WHAT IF I DO NOT HAVE AN EMAIL ADDRESS?
Get a free one through Gmail, Yahoo, or Hotmail, for example. You can still join CAEA and register for the conference by snail mail, but CAEA, in order to operate economically and to operate in conjunction with 21st Century best practices, will continue to move towards a wholly technological mode of operation and communication.
WHAT CAN I DO ON THE “MY PROFILE PAGE”? You can….
1. Change your username and password and update your information.
2. Hide the information that you do not want others to see in the directory. ONLY CAEA MEMBERS can access the directory. A member directory is not new, but it was much harder to access on the old website.
3. Look at the top of your profile. There are several tabs that will show your contact preferences, your message history (you can see the emails we sent you), and any committees or e-lists you join. Just click on them to open.
WHAT IS THE MEMBER DIRECTORY?
The Member Directory is a complete list of all of the CAEA members. Members have always had access to the directory, but previously it was in pdf form and not as easily accessible. Now you contact other members easily. ONLY CAEA MEMBERS have access to the directory by logging in. CAEA does not sell email lists or contact information to any outside sources. If you don't want something accessible, you can hide it by logging into My Profile and clicking on the information you wish hidden.
WHAT IS THE BULLETIN BOARD?
This is a way for you to communicate with other members on shared topics—everything from working out rides to the conference or sharing a room, to best practices and advocacy tips. You need to log in to join a group.
WHAT INFORMATION CAN I SEE ON THE CALENDAR?
Full details on events can be found by clicking on the calendar button. Find contact information, times, even directions to the location of the event. Due dates are also posted to help you remember when to submit applications and sign up for activities.
