ArtReach Executive Director Opening

Mission of ArtReach:
ArtReach is a not-for-profit organization that provides sequential, standards-based visual arts education taught by practicing artists to K-6 schools throughout San Diego County with an emphasis on providing free or very low-cost programs to schools with no resources for art. ArtReach also provides fee-based workshops to schools or organizations that have the ability to pay and partners with like-minded organizations to offer art-making opportunities at festivals and events.

Summary of Executive Director Position:
The Executive Director (ED) serves as the liaison between ArtReach and the community, and works to create both funding sources and visibility for ArtReach. The ED leads fundraising efforts for ArtReach, including researching and writing grants, collaborating with the board to produce fundraising events, cultivating individual donors, and investigating opportunities for funding, such as fee-based activities and collaborations. The ED is responsible for all grant oversight and follow-up.

The ED networks and collaborates with others in the arts, education, and nonprofit communities to create greater visibility and forge new partnerships for ArtReach. The ED investigates avenues outside of the classroom that further ArtReach’s goal of creating opportunities for children to have visual art experiences whenever possible, especially in schools that have no other resources for visual arts education. The ED produces and maintains ArtReach marketing materials, such as the website and printed brochures. Occasional evening and weekend work is required.

ArtReach Team Reporting Stream:

  • Executive Director reports to Board President/Board of Directors
  • Program Manager reports to Executive Director
  • Teaching Artists/Assistants ultimately report to Executive Director
